STUDIO

iGAMING GLOSSARY.

Clear definitions of the terms operators, aggregators and studios use every day.

Aggregator
A B2B platform that connects many game studios to many casino operators through one integration, so operators can add large catalogues without integrating each studio separately.
Agent ID
An identifier issued by a game provider to each operator site or brand during onboarding. Every API request from that site carries its agent ID.
B2B game provider
A company that develops casino games and licenses them to operators and aggregators instead of offering them to players directly. 3i Studio is a B2B game provider.
Bingo
A number game where players mark numbers on a card as they are drawn and win by completing a pattern. Online bingo can be multiplayer or single-player.
Bonus buy
A slot feature that lets a player pay a fixed price to go straight to the bonus round. It is restricted or banned in some markets.
cancelBet (rollback)
A seamless-wallet call that reverses a bet when the game provider did not receive a confirmed response, so the player’s balance stays correct.
Cascading reels
A slot mechanic where winning symbols disappear and new symbols fall into place, allowing several wins from one spin. Also called tumbling or avalanche reels.
Crash game
A game where a multiplier rises from 1x until it “crashes” at a random point. Players must cash out before the crash to win.
Free spins
Bonus spins awarded by a slot feature, usually triggered by scatter symbols, that do not cost the player a new stake.
Game certification
Independent testing of a game’s random number generator and mathematics by an accredited lab, such as GLI, BMM Testlabs or iTech Labs, against a market’s technical rules.
Hit frequency
How often a game pays any win, shown as a percentage or as “1 in X” spins.
Keno
A lottery-style game where players pick numbers, the game draws numbers at random, and payouts depend on how many picks match.
Launch URL
A single-use web address returned by the game provider that opens a game for an authenticated player session.
Max win
The largest amount a game can pay on one round, shown as a multiple of the stake, for example 5,000x.
Operator
A company that runs a casino or gaming platform and offers games to players, such as an online casino, sportsbook or sweepstakes site.
Paylines
The lines across a slot’s reels on which matching symbols create a win. Games without paylines use “ways to win” or cluster pays.
Plinko
A game where a ball drops through rows of pegs and lands in a slot at the bottom, each slot paying a different multiplier.
Remote game server (RGS)
The back-end system that runs casino games: it holds game logic and the random number generator, decides every result, manages sessions and talks to the operator’s wallet.
Responsible gaming
Policies and tools that help players stay in control, such as deposit limits, session reminders, time-outs and self-exclusion.
RNG (random number generator)
Software that produces unpredictable results for each game round. Certified RNGs are tested to show that outcomes are random and fair.
RTP (return to player)
The share of all money wagered on a game that it pays back to players over a very large number of rounds. A 96% RTP returns 96 for every 100 wagered in the long run.
Sandbox
A test environment where an operator integrates and tests a game provider’s API with test credentials before receiving production access.
Seamless wallet
An integration model where the player’s balance stays in the operator’s wallet and the game provider calls the operator in real time to authenticate, debit bets and credit wins.
Sweepstakes casino
A social casino, common in the United States, that uses two virtual currencies: Gold Coins for fun play and Sweeps Coins that can be redeemed for prizes under sweepstakes rules.
Sweeps Coins (SC)
The promotional currency on sweepstakes casinos that can be redeemed for prizes. 3i Studio game sheets list bet ranges in SC.
Transfer wallet
An integration model where players move money from the operator’s wallet into a separate game-provider wallet before playing. Less common than seamless wallet.
Volatility
How a game’s wins are distributed. Low-volatility games pay small wins often; high-volatility games pay less often but with bigger wins.
